NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC BIG CATS INITIATIVE

Recess Music will dedicate part of its profits to this worthy mission. We love Big Cats and we want them to have a place on our magnificent planet. When you purchase Celebrate Earth you will be helping National Geographic Big Cat Initiative to achieve its goal.

In the 1940s there were 200,000 lions living on our planet. Today, according to National Geographic, the population has declined to fewer than 20,000!

Lions, leopards, tigers, cheetahs and jaguars are a few of the big cats that you might easily recognize. They are all drastically dropping in population.

The National Geographic Big Cat Initiative “aims to halt the decline of the lion” and all big cat populations “by 2015 and to restore those populations to sustainable levels.”

AMERICA’S GROW A ROW

Recess Music is proud to dedicate a portion of its profits from the sales of its CD Growing Veggie Soup to America’s Grow a Row. With each purchase of the CD you are helping to provide food for the hungry and to teach children about gardening and its impact on hunger and nutrition through this worthy organization.

America’s Grow a Row began in 2002 in New Jersey with a small garden and one volunteer named Chip Paillex. That year, Chip donated $3000 worth of produce to his local food pantry.

The program expanded to include other gardeners, churches, food pantries, and children over the next three years. By 2005, America’s Grow a Row donated 14,000 pounds of food.

At the end of the 2009 growing season, America’s Grow a Row donated 317,000 pounds of fresh produce to those in need.

WHAT A SUCCESS STORY!

ROOTS & SHOOTS: THE POWER OF YOUTH IS GLOBAL

Dr. Jane Goodall, renowned primatologist, environmentalist and humanitarian, established Roots & Shoots, as part of the Jane Goodall Institute, for the participation of young people around the world.

She explains:

What is Roots & Shoots?

”Roots creep underground everywhere and make a firm foundation. Shoots seem very weak, but to reach the light, they can break open brick walls. Imagine that the brick walls are all the problems we have inflicted on our planet. Hundreds of thousands of roots & shoots, hundreds of thousands of young people around the world, can break through these walls. We CAN change the world.”
